Embers
Embers

Well she says I don’t smile too often
And my eyes seem far away
And I don’t dance like I used to
And I didn’t phone today
And we don’t go out as much now
And I haven’t much to say
The hours drag on forever
They used to slip away
Could we ever re-discover the feeling
If we still had the notion to try ?
We touch briefly and we call it forever
We drift and we never know why
All the time that you can’t understand it
As you cry in your search for a cause
You know that you’ll never define it
It’ll never be the way that it was
I need a little more time
To find the things I need
Oh Just a little more time
To find the things I need
I need a little more time
To find the things I need
Just a little more time
To find the things I need
But she says I don’t smile too often
And my eyes seem far away
And I don’t dance like I used to
And I didn’t phone today
And we don’t go out as much now
And we haven’t much to say
The hours drag on forever
They used to slip away
I need a little more time
To find the things I need
Just a little more time
To find the things I need
I need a little more time
To find the things I need
Just a little more time
To find the things I need

What's the song about?

The last little bit that burns after the emotion and feelings are gone for a lover. Forever.
Remember the good times. Forget the rest. Maybe tomorrow will bring new adventures?
It's a "falling out of love" song and the first song I ever fingerpicked. Needs orchestration (and electric guitar) solo at the end.
A song about you can still love someone while having fallen out of "Love" with them. But still care deeply about them and their future.
A love song for those I knew I could not "settle down" with. But also with a lot of respect. No bad wishes, Hope all goes well with you forever. But.."I wasn't the ONE"..
Never a hate song..I don't write "hate songs"..just a song for people who I outgrew..And those that outgrew me x
Also a song about (obviously) needing "A little more time"..Some take a gamble..some wait for the sun to set..Some dive in too soon..Some don't then may yet regret..
As always - make of it what you will - ..Basic premise of "Embers" is that if you feel something is not right in a relationship you should step back and..re-evaluate..
