The Private War

Were you under occupation
From the forces of frustration?
Were you set for relegation
To a new form of despair?
Were you facing dissolution?
Were you under prosecution -
From your own constitution
And the things that breed in there?
Did you lose your concentration
In the duel with degradation?
Did you cease degeneration
Before you ceased to care?
Did you give yourself a mention?
Did you make clear your intention –
To seek the source of tension
And destroy it in its’ lair?
Were you captured by delusion
In the conflict with confusion?
Did you slip into seclusion
In the hope of better days?
Did you make no improvision
For the fight with indecision?
Were you vanquished by the vision
That it wasn’t just a phase?
